JEFFERSON AIRPLANE - THE BEST OF 60'S & 70'S

Jefferson Airplane is an American psychedelic rock band from San Francisco, California. Attached to the San Francisco Sound, it is one of the precursors of the psychedelic movement. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

According to the booklet which accompanies their third album, the group took for name that of a flying apparatus of American design.

According to band member Jorma Kaukonen, the name was coined by a friend of his, Steve Talbot, when he was in Berkeley, in reference to blues pioneer Blind Lemon Jefferson.
