An upcoming Earth science expedition, jointly spearheaded by NASA and the French space agency Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), is poised to assist in shaping a more promising tomorrow by extensively analyzing the Earth's saline and freshwater formations. Termed the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission, its primary objective is to gauge the water levels in lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and oceans. Given the hastening pace of climate change impacting the water cycle, numerous communities across the globe are bound to encounter escalated water inundation, while others will grapple with water scarcity.
