AG Garland Announces Special Counsel Probe of Biden Crime Family Influence Peddling and Bribery

Attorney General Merrick Garland revealed on Friday that U.S. Attorney David Weiss has been officially designated as a special counsel. This appointment is intended to grant Weiss the authority to continue his investigation into alleged instances of influence-peddling involving Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden. This special counsel status affords Weiss a degree of independence from the standard oversight processes of the Justice Department.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified its position through a statement, indicating that Weiss's jurisdiction extends not only over the existing "ongoing investigation" but also includes any future matters that might emerge as part of this inquiry.
