It’s easy to judge someone when we don’t really know them. We make assumptions based on limited information and use our own opinions to make snap judgments. The saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” is an important message for those of us who are quick to judge.

This is particularly relevant in today’s society, where material possessions are seen as a sign of success. A teenager with an iPhone X is likely to face judgement from those around them who assume they must be rich. This is not necessarily the case, especially if the teenager is from a lower-income family. It’s possible that the phone was a gift from a rich relative or friend, or maybe the teenager saved money for months to buy it themselves. No matter the case, it’s wrong to assume that someone is wealthy simply because they have an iPhone X.

The moral of this story is that we should never judge someone based on material possessions. We don’t know their story and we don’t know what it took for them to get where they are. We don’t know their struggles and sacrifices, or the hard work and dedication it may have taken to buy that phone. The same goes for any material possessions – they don’t always tell the full story. Instead, we should focus on getting to know someone and looking beyond what’s on the surface.
