8-Year-Old's First Catch and Cook 🎣🐟 The Start of a Tradition

Hey there, everyone and welcome back to the channel. Today, we're stepping into a special catch, clean, and cook adventure, just me and my little 8-year-old girl. We had ourselves a good old time doing some bluegill fishing. She's just now getting old enough to start enjoying fishing more and I love it.

First, we swung by Walmart and snagged all the gear we needed. Got us a sturdy 5-gallon bucket for our catch and cook mission, some wriggly nightcrawlers for bait, hooks, bobbers, and a stringer. We kept it old school, just like how I remember from my own bluegill fishing days as a kid.

Next, we hightailed it to our favorite spot, and let me tell you, the view was something else. We got straight to business, cast our lines, and the bluegill fishing fun began. My little one was thrilled, reeling in bluegill like a pro. They were a bit on the small side, but the joy in her eyes when she showed them off? Now, that's the real treasure.

We found some fun along the way, too. Saw a bright yellow bird perched on a rope, not something you see every day. And my little girl, bless her heart, had us laughing with her jokes, even one about breaking the law! All in good fun, of course.

After a fair bit of fishing, we switched to the cook part of our catch, clean, and cook adventure. I'll admit, I sneaked a bite of the fish, and dang, it was good. So, we turned those bluegill into delicious nuggets. Just a simple recipe—eggs, milk, a splash of Frank's RedHot Original Hot Sauce, and a couple shakes of store-bought Cajun seasoning. Turned out finger-licking good! Bluegill is now sitting right up there in my top three favorite fish to eat, but crappie still takes the top spot.
