Why did Peter Gabriel Record Shock the Monkey in A432 Hz Tuning?

I'm a recording engineer and I do re-mixes and A432 conversions of select songs seeking a Sacred touch. I was listening to Shock the Monkey, and realized it was already in A-432 Hz Scientific Tuning. Not standardized A-440. I was quite stricken by this because it's rare to hear anything in the past decades of popular music. Especially since even synthesizers and piano-keyboards have also been set to A-440 Hz. I hope one day to ask Peter Gabriel personally, how this recording came to be.
