On August 9, fires broke out in two separate areas of Russia: a military facility in Georgiyevsk and near a major airport in Domodedovo outside Moscow. Tensions escalated further on August 10, as Moscow reported intercepting 11 drones aimed at Sevastopol in Crimea, attributing the strike attempts to Ukraine and labelling them as "terrorist attacks." A powerful explosion rocked a fireworks warehouse in Sergiev Posad, leaving one dead, over 50 injured, and 12 missing; locals likened the event to Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod and other border regions. Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Galuzin, accused NATO of planning nuclear scenarios against Russia. The US State Department is considering sending new defence equipment to Kyiv.
