France concerned about Niger’s uranium following coup

Niger is among the biggest producers of uranium in the world, which is a vital component in nuclear energy, key to powering economies and peoples' homes.

The bulk of the country's uranium goes to the EU, and specifically France. Many analysts say this is a major factor as to why Paris is so interested in maintaining its links to the country.
