Are You the Only Being?

Have you ever wondered that you just might be the only being in existence? This thought often crosses my mind. Solipsism, as it’s called, is the philosophical idea that the only thing provable, is your own mind. Everything you observe outside your mind, whether that be a waterfall, or another person, or the feeling of sunshine on your skin, its very existence is uncertain, or perhaps even nonexistent. It could all just be an illusion, or a self-delusion. You might be the only entity in this universe. Heck, you might be the universe. Of course, none of this is provable. It’s an unresolvable question. But if solipsism is real, then you aren’t currently listening to me speaking my thoughts. I don’t exist. These are your thoughts being projected in your mind. But it still begs the question, “Why?”. If you’re the only one in existence, what purpose is there in feigning the existence of others? It boggles the mind.

HOW DO I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY CONSCIOUS BEING IN THE UNIVERSE?
The solipsism problem, also called the problem of other minds, lurks at the heart of science, philosophy, religion, the arts and the human condition.
