Ferocious wildfires rip through historic town of Lahaina in Hawaii

Wildfires tore through the heart of Maui in Hawaii with alarming speed and ferocity, destroying homes and businesses in the historic tourist town of Lahaina.

The US Coast Guard responded to areas where people went into the ocean to escape the fire and smoke, the County of Maui said in a statement.
