New York City Mayor Eric Adams holds a press conference as the city struggles with stretched resources and a migrant crisis. The city has not been able to provide enough shelter space for asylum seekers, who have been sleeping on sidewalks while languishing in days-long lines for intake processing. Since 2022 the city has opened over 190 emergency shelters, with 12 large-scale relief centers. Two more are planned to be set up in the coming weeks.
