Warner Bros. Studios stated in April 2015 that a live adaptation of Five Nights At Freddy's was in the works, with Gil Kenan set to direct. However, problems quickly arose as the project suffered numerous setbacks, primarily due to the film business. Five Nights At Freddy's was still in development hell by 2017, so it was eventually relocated to Blumhouse Productions, with producer Jason Blum revealing that it will now be directed by Christopher Columbus and written by Scott Cawthon.

Unfortunately, production on the Five Nights At Freddy's film was pushed back even further after Cawthon said he was rewriting the script and Columbus dropped out of the project in 2021. Fortunately, the company was able to quickly locate another director, as Blum announced in October.
