Jaykay18 needed his thermoelectric cooler worked on, needed a new cap for the 120 volt side of the power supply, meanwhile the 12 volt side was still working, but had bulging caps. Even with careful marking of the negative side of the caps, I still managed to install a cap backwards. But the power point fuse did its job, correcting the problem and installing a new fuse, it all worked in the end. No harm, no foul.
Was not sure on how to get the fan apart for service, so since it still spins freely and still works, though it may make a noise from time to time. It was best just to leave it alone. I'm sure the thermoelectric panel, will crap out long before the fan dies.
Moving on to the Solar Flame Light, it was dead on arrival. After disassembling the lamp. I discovered the internal battery was fully charged, which meant the charging circuit was still working, which also meant, the light still had the capability of turning on. Final suspect was the push button switch. Going for broke, I jumper the switch, the light turned on. That confirmed the switch had a problem.
After discovering the green corrosion on and at the switch, along with a corroded broken wire. It was not to hard to take the switch apart and clean it back to working order. Seems like a design flaw, despite best effort to weather proof the switch.
Final order of business for the light, was to rehab the solar panel. Doing some wet sanding, to clear the old clouded, flaking, scratched panel. A few minutes later, it was in much better optical condition, ready for the famous RollingTardis solar panel hack. A new coating of clear poly sealer. The solar panel looks brand new. Now the aging light looks almost new.
Clearing the old coating off the solar panel is the best method of rehabbing them. Only pays, if the rest of the fixture is in good working order. Otherwise just apply a new coating, right over the top of what ever is there, though not the best method, it will improve the optics for better charging, and add a few more years out of a solar fixture.
Moving on to the final task, Jays power point car flashlight. It got stuck in the the power point, it was designed perfectly to get stuck in it, Good one China! when inserted just right. After putting the flash light back together, I did a little dental work on the tension nubs, so they have almost no chance on getting stuck again.
Another successful repair video, well, some repair, more janitorial tasks to get Jays possessions working again.
