How Immediate Annuities are Deceptively Marketed

Immediate annuities tease you with what APPEARS to be a HIGH rate of 'return'. Much of this supposed high rate is smoke and mirrors. You can do the exact some thing that an immediate annuity does but with traditional investing in a LOW-risk mix of super low-cost index funds.

NOTES: AGG (iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF) did not come into existence until 2004. For the prior years, I used 10-year treasury bond total returns.
