This settlement in Southern Utah is in much better condition than many. That is due mostly in part because it is privately owned and has seen extensive reconstruction over the years. It was originally settled by Latter-Day Saint pioneers in an effort to grow cotton. This proved to be difficult as the Virgin River frequently flooded and washed out their fields.
