The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seized close to one hundred illegal rooster blades. Officials say these items are often used for illegal cockfighting, and were found inside a truck at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge last Thursday. Reportedly, these blades are so sharp that they often lead to the death of at least one of the roosters in a fight, as these objects are usually attached to the animal's legs in a bird fight. The CBP says these items are illegal in the U.S. under a law that prevents the use or sale of sharp objects that are used in animal-fighting events. According to news reports, the truck driver was given a $500 fine.
