Road museum in BOGOTÁ I medicenjhos

In one of the most important avenues in Colombia there are different works of art throughout the length and breadth of El Dorado Avenue in Bogotá, did you know that these are a road museum and represent various artists.

The road museum is a project that manifests a new political image of the country. The election of César Gaviria Trujillo as president of the
Republic, on March 11, 1990, represented the rise to power of a new generation. The first lady, the young economist Ana
Milena Muñoz, motivated by the celebration of the 456th anniversary of the founding of Bogotá, formed a working group to design
and carry out a project that would provide sculptures to the main avenues of Bogotá such as Las Américas, Avenida Primero de
Mayo and El Dorado Avenue through a large call for artists to design public furniture for the city.

The road museum, as the project for Calle 26, Bogota's international entrance, was called, is made up of eight large-format sculptures, arranged along El Dorado Avenue, between the international airport and Carrera 50.

The first seven works were placed on August 6, 1994, here they are: "Pedazo de río" by Bernardo Salcedo, located at the
height of the race 120, on the south side of the road; “Horizontes” by Edgar Negret, in carrera 108, in the central separator; "Double
winged victory” by Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, located in two of the central separators of the avenue; In a northerly direction and in the same eastern direction is “El Viajero” by Antonio Seguí, at the height of Carrera 92; “La Ventana” by Carlos Rojas, in race 78; “Intihuatana” by Fernando de Szyszlo, in race 62, and “Eclipse”
by Angela Gurria. The last sculpture, "Longos" by Hugo Zapata, located in Carrera 50, was installed on December 15 of the same year.
