REDFALL is an open-world, first-person shooter from Bethesda and Arkane Austin.

Fight against a legion of vampires and reclaim your town - single player, or CO-OP.

GAME SCORE: 7.8/11

REDFALL has great graphics, the story is…okay….the mechanics are fine, and the gun play is….Bethesda like.

The main problem I have with REDFALL is, like all Bethesda F.P.S. it feels like a game made for PC, and then adapted to Console.

The thumbsticks are squirrely as heck. You can adjust all your settings, but it takes time to test every parameter change. I wish Bethesda would consult 343 or Bungie to learn how to implement a controller properly.

The other problem I have, besides all the bugs and crashes, is the game feels familiar.

If you have played DEATHLOOP and Ghostwire Tokyo, you have already played REDFALL.

So many things from Ghostwire Tokyo are implemented in this game. They both have fog, they both have spirits/souls, they both require you to remove the core from the enemies. It really feels like a re-skinned Ghostwire Tokyo, but with guns.

And Ghostwire Tokyo is a far better game than REDFALL.

The good news is REDFALL is MUCH better than DEATHLOOP, though that's not saying much.

REDFALL feels like an unfinished game. They didn't even take the time to animate the cut scenes, and there are quiet a few bugs - and I played this about 3 months after release!

I guess the worst part about REDFALL is you feel no connection to the characters or the story.

Several times while talking to characters to unveil the story, I found myself saying out loud, "I DON'T CARE, HURRY UP" and if you don't care about the characters, it's hard to keep playing the game.

As we look forward to STARFIELD, I really hope Bethesda will take the time to get the controls right, make it feel at home on console, and spend more time on the story.

Now, I can see some people enjoying REDFALL. And since it's on Game Pass, it's totally worth checking out. I just couldn't get in to it, and with a little more work it could have been so much better.

Let's hope STARFIELD learns those lessons.
