Timber Rattlesnake retreats

Timber Rattlesnakes (Crotalus horrridus) are highly venomous, but they only bite us as a last resort. I filmed this one rattling in slow motion along a mountain trail. She never struck or moved closer to me. She generously offered us a clear warning with her tail, and eventually turned and retreated for the safety of the bushes. Beautiful snakes!
