Is The Fed trying to cause a recession?!

On July 27, 2023, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates another quarter-basis point, to the highest rate in 22 years. They say it's part of a continued effort to "fight persistent inflation in the U.S. economy." But could there be another reason?
