WHO Won the Game?
Webb to Youngkin: “Why Does Rice Play Texas, Again?”
[FOB FREEDOM, August 5, 2023] Any station? Any station? Do you read? Over.
Reporting live from the world’s newest banana republic, . . .
In 2016, politics aficionados had the chance to attend a forum sponsored by the Bipartisan Policy Institute, after a recent survey conducted on voter behavior, and they found that, essentially, voters in neither party, knew anything about where their party stood on the issue of education. And, when told what their party’s position on education was, over 83% of die-hard partisans agreed with their party’s platform. And, amazingly, when given the chance to take a break and repeat the exercise 93% endorsed their party’s platform on education, while, unbeknownst to them the researchers had switched the platforms. But, at least one pesky independent running as the first homeless candidate for state office has rejected the platforms of both parties on priorities for education in this off-year election, when Virginia is ranked in the Top Ten for learning losses in reading and math, essentially breeding “Trump Voters” in NOVA, if you are vulnerable to partisan rhetoric.
In May, on his third try—because the third time is the charmer, Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin had announced a plan to provide some grant money for a do-it-yourself program in which income-eligible participants could apply for grants to assist in paying for tutoring and education services they felt their children needed. This was the proposal after the resignation of the State Superintendent, an attempt to recruit low graduation rate students from HBCUs, who tend to be in an achievement gap themselves, to provide tutoring for other kids affected by the learning loss, and a volunteer opt in program for public school districts, torn by partisan division, to gain access to funding to address the learning losses, but, despite growing up in Richmond, perhaps the Rice University and Harvard Business School alum has no idea that if families have low incomes, they probably have little experience in developing a program by themselves to address a learning loss that even educators and the teachers’ union are afraid to address.
“Howard-John Wesley likes to remind his congregation that he did not always enjoy his current tax bracket. Duh! And, he titled a once-and-done sermon on Jonah, ‘I’m Coming Out’. I don’t even think folks at Alfred Street would have returned to here that oldy but goody five times, like we did at one church. Ahem. Who’s thinking, your body’s here with me, but your mind is on the other side of town? Any who. Nothing from nothing leaves nothing, sang one song, and you can’t miss what you never had. And apparently we have parents rolling around in BMWs who spent 12 years in high school they believe they could have completed in 10, and would be at the same place in life. Note, we don’t have many Ivy League alum around here, and they believe, following the science, that by nature and the fickle finger of fate one third of Alexandria got infected with a Harvard Acceptance Rate Coronavirus, and you know damn well if I was a parent with kids I would not be doing the Okeydokey like some folks round hyeah. You know how many times I’ve seen folks with three-legged dogs, obviously unfamiliar with the connections to useless, but one old dog in Colorado, who, quite naturally Sophie and Tom Australopithecus treated like family, one day ran away, got hit by a car and got rescued by this missing link crew. And one day, old Dexter learned to walk on just two legs, finding his ‘masters’ as useless as a three-legged dog. I may even have heard that on NPR,” laughed Major Mike Webb.
Note: grandiosity is a classic sign of bipolar disorder, and we don't want to hurt his feelings lest he go to “that place”, so familiar to Arlington Public School Board Member, Latina Cristina Torres-Diaz.
Chim-chimera. Chim-chimera. Chim-chim-cherry. A pandemic agent as lucky can be. Chim-chimera. Chim-chimera. Chim-chim--achoo. The luck'll rub off when I bump fists with you. Or blow me a kiss, and catch COVID-2.
Your elected representative is called your elected representative for a reason; and Martin Luther King and Jesus never got elected.
