Wind-fanned wildfire threatens Spanish Mediterranean coast

A raging forest fire along Spain’s picturesque Mediterranean coast, near its border with France, has surged at an alarming pace, driven by fierce winds and encroaching hourly on a beloved tourist destination.

According to media reports, the inferno that first ignited in the Portbou region, devoured an estimated 200 hectares (nearly 500 acres) in three hours, with the potential to engulf an expansive 400 hectares.
