Here is the unboxing of a rare unique old nosey figure made by Frank Marshall probably made in the 1930’s or early 1940’s.
He has a slot jaw with leather underpinned to the neck. Eyes turn to the left side and self-center. He also has one winker. What makes him unique is the hands are not of the usual Frank Marshall style. They are wood hands that are made to look like gloved hands. Possibly to go for that old Charlie McCarthy tuxedo dress look. Plus, one of the hands has a spring mechanism to move the thumb, which needs fixing from decay over the years.
No restoration has been done this guy so he comes all original needing some TLC.
Some collectors out there prefer to leave these old figures as they are (decayed patina), maintaining their aged charm.
There were some mechanism tools and change of clothes kept with this guy in a box for a long time.
I think he was used by a Preacher. He was a hand me down to the family just stored away in a closet or attic for half a century.
I ended up naming him Leonard.
My Fats vent figure (from the movie “Magic”) makes an appearance at the end of this video.
This unboxing was filmed in May 2019.
I am going to do some more videos with him to bring him more to life. Perhaps we will see a personality come through.
