Trump attorney previews Jan. 6 defense: ‘This is an attack on free speech and political advocacy’

John Lauro, lawyer for Donald Trump, told CNN Tuesday that the former president “had every right” under First Amendment protections to raise issues with the results of the 2020 presidential election. Lauro said his legal team’s defense strategy will focus on the Biden administration’s efforts to criminalize Trump for free speech.
