According to a person familiar with the matter, the Republican National Committee is planning to impose stricter rules for candidates to participate in the second debate. GOP presidential candidates will need at least three percent of the vote in two national polls, or they need 3 percent in one national poll and two polls from separate early-voting states in order to participate in the second RNC debate. Candidates must also have a minimum of 50,000 unique voters, with at least 200 donors in 20 states. These metrics increase the requirements from the first debate in Milwaukee later this month. The second debate will be on September 27th at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.
