The Problem with Grocery Store Pineapples 🍍

Have you ever bought a pineapple at the store and its completely green and as it begins to “ripen” it actually is rotting and becoming mushy in some spots?

That’s not ripening to me. Ripening, for most fruits, happens on the plant, shrub, or tree.

The reason this happens with store-bought pineapples is that they harvest them as soon as they reach peak size in order to able to transport and maintain shelf life for saleability in stores.

This is a consequence of the global food trade that attempts to keep supermarkets stocked with worldwide produce year-round, you know the model that goes against the seasons of nature.

White pineapples are the best; they’re sweet and soft with lower acidity. Yeah, pienapples take forever to grow, 1 or 2 years if from the top, but they’re low maintenance, essentially plant them and let them do their thing.

Stay Balanced
