Did You Know RC Pro-Am Was Actually on the GENESIS?!?! WHAT?!?!?

Have you ever been shocked to learn that a game that you love was available on a different system and under a different name? This has happened to me a few times, and until Jay over at Square Pegs mentioned it I had no idea that one of my favorite Nintendo Entertainment System games was also made available on the Sega Genesis. That's right, did you know RC Pro-Am was actually also released on the Sega Genesis? Let me introduce you to Championship Pro-Am.

Designed by Rare and published by Tradewest, Championship Pro-Am is an upgraded version of RC Pro-Am. You can still pick up the upgrades, turbo, tires, and top speed, but it all just looks and sounds so much better!

At the end of July 2023, my youngest daughter and I packed up the car and headed west to St Louis Missouri to the MoGameCon. We have gone to this event three times now, it was actually the very first convention that I ever went to after I started this channel. This year the MoGameCon was at a different venue, much smaller due to some issues with the original facility. I went into the show looking for two titles basically, Alien versus Predator for the Atari Jaguar and Sonic 2 for the Sega Master System. I had completely forgotten that I had Championship Pro-Am on my radar.

As luck would have it, one of the organizers of the event actually had a copy at his booth. Not only did he have a copy, but he also had it complete in a box with a pretty good-looking manual. As I mentioned, RC Pro-Am is one of my favorite games of all time, and to be able to get it in a superior graphical delivery such as the Sega Genesis delivers is really exciting to me.

Have you ever run into anything like this? Are there any games that you love on one system and we're surprised to find out it was available on another? Let me know in the comments.
