The MIND diet (Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay) is a combination of two well-studied dietary approaches, the Mediterranean diet and DASH (Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension), with some modifications. The researchers found those who followed the MIND diet closely had 53 percent reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and those who moderately followed the diet had 35 percent reduced risk.

Methyl TetraHydroFolate Reductase (MTHFR) is a gene that produces an essential enzyme in the body. MTHFR plays a key role with regard to many aspects of physical and mental health.

Humans contain two copies of each gene, one from the father and one from the mother, which are referred to as the alleles of a gene. One allele mutation, which occurs in 50% of the population makes it more likely that you will have migraine headaches or other low serotonin medical problems like depression, irritable bowel and fibromyalgia.

Host Holly L. Thacker, MD discusses how to put the MIND Diet in action and how to treat MTHFR.
