Acrobat : Acrobat is a software developed by Adobe Systems, which allows you to create, edit, and print Portable Document Files (PDFs).
Airbrush : A propellant that uses compressed air to spray a liquid, such as paint or ink. Often used in illustrations and photo retouching.
Alignment : This is both a design term and a print-related term. To have everything in alignment for the design, may mean keeping things with typographical alignments of center, left, right, and justified. For print, this term is used for ensuring an image is printed properly with respect to the margins of the paper.
Alpha Channel : Sometimes described as a mask, the Alpha Channel specifies how overlaid layers will merge pixel colors with one another.
Analog Proof (Prepress Proof) : This is a proof used to give the printer an idea of how the project is meant to look as a final piece.
Analogous Colors : Color scheme built out of three colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
Anchor Point : Anchor point is a design or illustration term that describes a point along a line or shape that can be manipulated.
Animation : Animation is a method of generating movements by displaying a series of images using frames.
Anti-Aliased/Anti-aliasing : Anti-aliasing is a design technique used to smooth jagged edges on curved lines and diagonals, ideally to add greater realism.
Art Director : Typically the most senior graphic designer who is responsible for the execution of the elements of graphic design, and often manages a team of designers beneath him/her.
