DA declines criminal charges against officers who fired 76-shots at Hunter Hanson, who pointed gun at police

No charges will be filed in a deadly police shooting in Kenosha County on Jan. 16.

Hunter Hanson was wanted after police said he cut off his GPS monitor while awaiting trial in a Racine County homicide case.

Officers chased Hanson to a field in the Town of Paris, pleading with him to surrender. Investigators said Hanson pointed a gun at officers twice.

The second time, 11 officers from Racine and Kenosha county sheriff's departments and Wisconsin State Patrol opened fire.

Hanson died at an area hospital.

The report says investigators found 76 spent casings at the scene.

The Racine County District Attorney said there's no evidence Hanson fired his weapon.

In a statement, the district attorney said officers in this case were privileged to use the force they did, pursuant to Wisconsin law.
