Review and how to use the AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra GC553 capture card. Live stream video games or record video games from your console.

The LGU (Live Gamer Ultra) can capture games all the way up to 4K 30fps (fps = Frames Per Second). But it can also do 2K 60fps, 1080p120fps, and even 1080p60fps HDR (plus more like 720p etc..)

And it includes Pass-Through to your TV or gaming monitor up to 4K 60fps HDR, or even 1080p240fps.

The LGU also supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) for Windows users. Be sure to update the Firmware to get VRR if you don't have it.

Setup is pretty much plug & play. You can use the LGU with Mac or Windows.

And you can record or stream using OBS Studio, Streamlabs, other similar apps, or the free AVerMedia RECentral (RECentral Express for Mac).

I'm a big fan of using OBS or Streamlabs just because I've used them forever, but RECentral is worth checking out. RECentral makes it VERY easy to capture game play or stream, without all the hard-to-understand settings in OBS.

There are some benefits to using RECentral over OBS, so take a few days and try it out. The built-in tutorial will show you everything you need to know.

Overall, the Live Gamer Ultra is a GREAT capture card for those who want to record/stream gameplay from their console. I've used it with an Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X and the footage always looks great. Of course, your capture settings and the available resources of your computer will determine how high quality you can capture.

Be aware, you CANNOT capture 4K60fps with the LGU! But it can pass-thru 4K60fps HDR to your TV.

If you want to CAPTURE in 4K60fps HDR, then check out the Live Gamer Bolt. It's about double the price, you'll need Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a high-end computer.

But for the price, it's hard to beat the Live Gamer Ultra!

1080p60fps is the perfect resolution and frame rate for streaming and capturing most games. But if you want to capture (or stream 😨) in 4K30fps, you can do that too. LINKS ⬇️⬇️⬇️

*NOTE: For those who may say the audio is out of sync on the Fortnite clip, it's actually not. The game was playing at 4K60fps, but I had to capture it at 4K24fps for this video. So I didn't capture every frame. That's why it seems like the video is slower than the audio in a couple places. If your game is playing at 4K30fps, everything will sync properly. Same for a game playing at 4K60fps and being captured/streamed at 1080p60fps.
