This Teen Is 7 Feet 8 Inches Tall And Won't Stop Growing

Broc Brown was officially recognized as the world’s tallest teenager before becoming too old for the 18-and-below classification, as he is growing at the rate of six inches a year. If his bout continues, the 19-year-old could easily surpass Sultan Kosen, who is the world’s tallest man at 8 feet 2 inches.

Broc’s mom Darci says that her son was 5 feet 2 inches when he went in kindergarten, 6 feet in middle school and 7 feet by the time he reached high school. He has a genetic disorder and there is nothing they can do to stop his progression.

Broc was diagnosed Sotos syndrome, also known as cerebral gigantism, when he was just five years of age. Doctors told his parents that he might not outlive his teenage years. Besides his incredibly tall stature, Broc also suffers from learning difficulties, strain on his heart, curvature of the spine and narrowing of the spinal cord. He was also born with one kidney, so is unable to take painkillers, despite suffering constantly with his back.

Broc and his mom went to the Arkansas Children’s Center to meet with Sotos expert Dr. Bradley Schaefer, 1000 miles away from home. While Dr. Schaefer could not help with the kid’s pain, he did have some good news for the family. “Unfortunately he will always have to deal with some form of pain but I believe that he will now have a regular life span” said the doctor.

Broc’s life may be long, but he will still have to live with his difficulties. He has grown out of his size 26 shoes and he has to have new ones made specially for him. Big feet also mean big socks, which cost $18 a pair, a big bed and a specialist chair that cost $1000.

Still, the giant teenager looks forward to his long life with his mom and hopes that one day we will be able to work in a sporting goods store.
