The volcano in southwest Iceland, broadly known as Fagradalsfjall, continues to erupt on Wednesday 30 kilometers away from Reykjavik, sending plumes of smoke in the air after a period of seismic activity in the area.

Drone footage features the volcano, located in an uninhabited valley near the Litli-Hrutur mountain, continuing seismic activity with red-hot lava flowing down in torrents. People could be seen taking pictures or contemplating the astonishing landscape.

The eruption has captured the attention of locals and visitors alike as they witness the raw power of nature. The billowing smoke rising from the volcano creates a striking visual spectacle against the backdrop of Iceland's unique landscape.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to assess any potential risks to nearby communities and ensure the safety of residents and tourists. Although the eruption is a remarkable natural event, precautions are being taken to prevent any adverse impact on the surrounding areas.

Iceland, located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, is known for its geologically active environment, with frequent volcanic activity and geothermal features.

As the situation develops, scientists and experts will continue to study the eruption's behavior and its potential consequences. Meanwhile, visitors to the region can witness this awe-inspiring display of nature's might, with caution and respect for safety measures in place.

The Fagradalsfjall volcano erupted in 2021 and 2022 as well, without causing damage or disruption to flights. Before that, it had been dormant for around 6,000 years.
