“I can assure you that my 4-year-old and my 2-year-old daughters will not change in front of biological men. This is ridiculous!”

On the subject of gender-affirming care for minors, Hunt displayed an ice cream pyramid chart during the hearing and made an analogy between kids wanting ice cream all the time to a child saying and doing things their parents might consider an indicator that they want to be another gender:

Oftentimes during Congressional hearings, there almost seems to be this implied requirement from Democrats that you must be willing to suspend disbelief for a few hours in order to go along with whatever narrative they’re trying to push, with their witnesses seemingly backing them up.

Fortunately for common sense-minded people in this country, especially those in Texas’ 38th Congressional District, Rep. Wesley Hunt is not one of those Republicans who are on board with playing along during these things in the interest of peace, love, and harmony or whatever.

Hunt’s passion for the issues he cares about and his love for his two young daughters was on full display during a hearing Thursday put on by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government on the issue of “The Dangers and Due Process Violations of ‘Gender-Affirming Care.'”

The specific purpose of the hearing, according to their website, was to “examine and expose how children are being coerced by adults in positions of authority into life-altering and medically questionable gender transition procedures without full understanding of the meaning or impact.”

And while Hunt had plenty to say about that, he also took a moment to make a larger point about how he owed it to his little girls, who are two- and four- years old, to ensure that they grew up not having to worry about having to compete against men in women’s sports nor having to worry about changing in front of men in the women’s locker room.

“[My daughters] will NOT change in front of biological men,” Hunt declared, his voice rising to the level of full “girl dad” mode.

“This is RIDICULOUS,” Hunt said, his hands gesturing to the room. “If you think we are all equal and the same biologically, you’ve literally lost your mind.”

“If you think I’m wrong, I am not the problem – I can assure you,” Hunt went on to say after pledging to stand up for young women across the country including his daughters against the madness.

On the subject of gender-affirming care for minors, Hunt displayed an ice cream pyramid chart during the hearing and made an analogy between kids wanting ice cream all the time to a child saying and doing things their parents might consider an indicator that they want to be another gender:

“This is the food pyramid, according to my four-year-old and my two-year-old daughters. By the way, in the Hunt house, we don’t do Ben and Jerry’s. It’s Blue Bell only. If my children had their way, they would have ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and for every single meal in between. Oh, the wisdom of children. But in a sane country we know that children aren’t mature enough to make adult decisions that will impact the rest of their lives. That’s why we have parents. Children cry for ice cream but as parents, we have the wisdom to know that ice cream is not in their best interests, particularly their long-term interest.”

Hunt went on to thank his parents for not giving in to his whims when he was a child:

“I want to thank my parents, Willie and Diane Hunt. They had three children. All three of us went to West Point. All three of us served our country. All three of us earned multiple master’s degrees from Ivy League schools. Do you know why? Because my parents did not give in to the thoughts of an adolescent Wesley Hunt. I am a United States Congressman because my parents didn’t listen to me when I was eight years old. They raised us. They cared for us. They taught us the ways of being successful people.”

Hunt’s ice cream comparison fauxfended Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), who went on to issue a profuse apology to parental witnesses, essentially declaring Hunt as an insensitive and cruel person – and in the process accidentally proving his point.

On this issue perhaps more than any other, we need more Wesley Hunts to be willing to stand up for common sense and what’s right. Because the futures of young women in America are at stake when good people stand on the sidelines and do nothing all in the hopes that the issue will go away.
