Tight Lower Back?

Important to note the difference between lower back PAIN and lower back MUSCLE TIGHTNESS. Both could occur at the same time also. However, in this video I am primarily focusing on lower back muscle tightness which can be much different than lower back pain. Pain is a very complex thing and in most instances has many integrated components involved - more than just a need for a stronger core (although it could be a small part of the solution). Focusing in on muscle stiffness in the lower back region - a lack of core strength has been shown to contribute to an increased load on the lower back muscles. On the contrary, proper core activation shifts more of this load onto the glutes! So if you have a tight lower back or want to increase glute activation, I recommend doing the strengthening exercises at the end of the video. Also, the exercise in the study I reference is a great way to experience for yourself the change in glute activation with and without core activation. Simple exercise you can do at home without any equipment, if you’re interested check out the study linked below.
