The remains of seven South Korean soldiers who were killed during the Korean War were returned home from Hawaii Wednesday evening, the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War armistice. Three of the seven remains were collected by the U.S. military during the Korean War, three were sent to the U.S. by North Koreans between 1995 to 2018, and one was found by the U.S. several decades after the war. President Yoon Suk Yeol welcomed the return of the fallen servicemen alongside the youngest brother of one of the identified soldiers during a ceremony at the Seoul Air Base.
