Are UFOs / UAPs real? Listen in as David Grusch, Ryan Graves and David Fravor all tell you they are!
Post-hearing Summary: Erosion of Public Confidence due to Deficient Transparency and Accountability in Government's Approach to UAP Incidents.
WASHINGTON— The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs orchestrated a crucial hearing titled, “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications in National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.” The panel members engaged with witnesses to address the glaring lack of transparency and adequate reporting protocols within federal entities regarding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) occurrences. They also brought to light the severe personal and professional retaliation meted out to pilots reporting UAP encounters, which has led to a reluctance to report such incidents and a consequential gap in the gathering of national security intelligence.
Principal Insights:
The prevailing internal reporting processes for military and civilian pilots encountering UAP in federal agencies are notably substandard or entirely non-existent. This deficiency has engendered a transparency void, which has spurred speculation and undermined public faith.
Ryan Graves, Executive Director for Americans for Safe Aerospace, conveyed in his testimony the adverse consequences resulting from the dearth of transparency on the subject of UAP. Graves stated, “The government possesses more information about UAP than what's made public. Overclassification conceals essential data. There's a disconcerting lack of transparency concerning UAP. Since 2021, all UAP footage is classified as secret or above. This degree of secrecy hinders our comprehension, exacerbating speculation and distrust."
Commercial and military pilots reporting UAP encounters have been subject to harsh retaliation, inflicting severe damage to their careers and personal lives, leading to a reticence among pilots to report interactions with UAP.
David Grusch, the former National Reconnaissance Officer Representative to the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Task Force within the Department of Defense, discussed the retaliation he faced for reporting on UAPs during his testimony: “The tactics they used to harm me professionally and personally were extremely harsh and regrettably, certain colleagues of mine were aggressively administratively attacked, which deeply distresses me.”
Another significant contribution was from Retired Commander David Fravor, a former U.S. Navy pilot, who shared his direct experiences with UAPs. Fravor, famously known for his encounter off the coast of Southern California in 2004 with a Tic-Tac shaped UAP, stressed the challenges he faced following his reporting of the incident: "The aftermath was frustrating, I was questioned, ridiculed, and it impacted my career trajectory. It's disheartening to see fellow aviators reluctant to report their encounters due to fear of similar outcomes."
Highlighted Contributions:
Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs Chairman, Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.), scrutinized the inadequate training and internal reporting systems for military personnel and commercial pilots to report and evaluate UAP data.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) expressed concern over the Department of Defense's expenditure of vast sums of taxpayer money while repeatedly failing audits, yet continuing to withhold UAP findings from the public.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) underscored how the stigma around UAPs has led to pilots reporting their encounters suffering severe consequences from officials within the U.S. National Security space.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) highlighted the significant levels of UAP underreporting due to pilots' fear of retaliation, leading to a loss of potentially invaluable national security intelligence gathering.
The hearing concluded with a call for improved transparency, better reporting protocols, and an end to retaliation against those who come forward with UAP encounters. The discussion brought forth a broad range of perspectives on the pressing issue of UAPs and their implication for national security and transparency in government operations.
