6 African Presidents were sent with an African Union mandate to help mediate in the Libyan war between Muammar Gaddafi and the opposition. NATO ordered them to go back and refused to let them land. ‘African Presidents on an African mission over African soil were ordered to go back by NATO’.

We now know from Wikileaks revelations that during the war, France’s🇫🇷 Sarkozy was negotiating to “gain a greater share in Libyan oil production”, and reserving as much as 35% of Libya’s oil industry for French exploitation. Another motivation was to stop Muammar Gaddafi’s ‘gold Dinar plan’, an indigenous gold-backed African currency to replace the French CFA Franc
