President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is on an official visit to Turkey, with an official ceremony.
The cavalry welcomed Mahmoud Abbas' official vehicle on the street in front of the Presidential Complex and escorted the vehicle to the protocol gate.
President Erdoğan welcomed Palestinian President Abbas at the main entrance gate of the Presidential Complex.
After Erdoğan and Abbas took their places in the ceremony area, the national anthems of the two countries were played accompanied by a 21-gun salute. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas greeted the Guard Regiment Ceremony Corps in Turkish by saying "Hello soldier".
Flags and soldiers representing the 16 Turkish states established in history also took part in the ceremony.
After the presentation of the delegations of the two countries, President Erdoğan and Abbas posed for journalists in front of the flags of Turkey and Palestine on the stairs.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Head of National Intelligence Organisation İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Chief of Administrative Affairs Metin Kıratlı, Chief Advisor to the President Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç and Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin were also present at the ceremony.
Erdoğan and Abbas will hold a joint press conference after the meeting.
President Erdoğan will host an official dinner in honour of Palestinian President Abbas.
