Move Over AOC. Young Conservatives are Getting Ready to Win Elections (ft. Mason Morgan)

Tired of seeing the liberal media present Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other socialists as somehow representative of young Americans?

Mason Morgan, the executive director of Run GenZ, sure is. In this exclusive interview, he shares his organization’s winning plan to retake the youth vote.

The starting point?

Identify talented young conservatives who want to run, pair them with proven mentors, and then give them the tools they need to win elections.

In Mason’s words, he describes the mission of Run GenZ, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, like this:

“Our mission is to empower, recruit, and mentor the next generation of conservative leadership. The way we do that is to come to conferences like this, and encourage young people to step up. Then we introduce them to a mentor who is a young conservative elected official. We’ve built a coalition now of 82 of the country’s youngest conservative members serving in office.”

A walk around Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit, where this interview was filmed, is proof that the talent pool is right here — bright, eager, young faces with articulate voices who are not afraid to stand their ground. But the stats are sobering. According to a Pew Research Center survey, in the 2020 election: “Gen Z and Millennial voters favored Biden over Trump by margins of about 20 points.”

Statistics also show that as people get older, no matter their age bracket, they also start voting more conservative. But if conservatives want to win over the rest of Gen Z (those born between 1997-2012), why not start now? Gen Z voters — or Zoomers — constituted about 8 percent of the electorate in the 2020 election, but that number will be much more sizable in 2024, as more Zoomers hit the voting age of 18.

“The narrative that the left pushes is that the youth should look up to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” Mason said. “But young people don’t need to look up to AOC or Ilhan Omar because we’re identifying young conservatives that can be their role models instead: people who are grounded in faith and conservative principles.”
