Chapter 8: Objections to Biblical Christianity

One of the primary reason people reject Biblical Christianity is that they do not like what the Bible says specifically on sexual immorality. For this reason some of the major opponents to Biblical Christianity have always included people who have been identified as sexually immoral by the Bible. People who have sexual intercourse outside of marriage have been labeled as sexually immoral by the Bible. The Bible specifically says the sexually immoral must repent of their ways and choose a different lifestyle or they will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:21

and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men

When Biblical Christianity says specifically for people to “repent of their sexual immorality or they will not enter God’s Kingdom”, many people are definitely not going to have appreciative words to say about Biblical Christianity if they value their current lifestyle more than the Kingdom of God.

If a person chooses to remain in their current lifestyle labeled as sexually immoral, then Biblical Christianity would propose that person no advantage even if that person believed Biblical Christianity is true. Why should they care about Biblical Christianity since they would not have any inheritance anyway? Consequently, it is futile to even debate with such a person whether Biblical Christianity is true or not. It is not surprising then that a resurgence of lifestyles labeled as sexually immoral happens to occur at the same time as resurgence in attacks against Biblical Christianity. A person who values their current lifestyle more than the Kingdom of God would have every motivation to slander Biblical Christianity even if they believed it was true. A person who values their current lifestyle more than the Kingdom of God has no motivation to think Biblical Christianity is true, so they would probably believe it is false and no amount of evidence or reason could persuade them that it is true. However, some people have genuine questions about Biblical Christianity and have made some understandable objections to Biblical Christianity. The following are some of those objections:

(1) A good God would not allow so much suffering in the world. (2) Jesus cannot be the only way to God. (3) Christianity is just a psychological comfort for the weak. (4) Miracles cannot happen. (5) A good God would not send people to hell. (6) Not everyone has had the opportunity to hear about Biblical Christianity. (7) The Bible contains errors. (8) The story of Jesus is just a hybrid of different myths. (9) The God of the Bible is a moral monster. (10) It is no longer necessary to invoke God as an explanation for anything. (11) The church is full of hypocrites (12) Christians cherry-pick what they want from the Bible.

Only a person who would be willing to choose to change their current lifestyle if the Biblical Christianity were true, would be willing to enter a rational debate involving reason and evidence to genuinely determine if Biblical Christianity actually is true. Everyone else would just understandably criticize Biblical Christianity whenever possible.
