Ace Combat 2 PS1 1997

Ace Combat 2 is an arcade combat flight sim developed by Namco and designed by Masanori Kato, the game is the beginning of the long running Ace Combat series and is the sequel to the 1995 release Air Combat (Ace Combat in Japan).

Air Combat while a commercial and critical success as of 2008 the game has sold over 2m copies, creator Masanori Kato however was not happy with the end result, with Kata not happy with the game from a technical standpoint.

Kato and several other developers wanting to greatly improve on the game got to work on a new title and two years later the Ace Combat series was born and has gone on to see 10 sequels and remains in development in 2023, with an untitled Ace Combat game currently in development.

A remake of the game was released in 2011 on the Nintendo 3DS in Europe and North America called Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy, the game released in Japan the following year. The remake features a revamp of the games story along with the addition of additional cutscenes and voice acting as well as new aircraft.
