Remember talent shows in school? Not many of us enjoyed those performances. If you were the outgoing kind of kid, you probably enjoyed the spotlight, all those parents with their eyes nailed on the stage and there you are. Red dress and curly ginger wig, trying to look as cute as Annie and remember the lyrics to Tomorrow. Some of us pulled it off. Others would sweat bullets, then run screaming off stage. Ah, those were the days.

More and more elementary schools all over the country are pulling away from music. Luckily, somewhere out there are teachers and educators alike who still recognize the value of music in our everyday lives and pass it on to those who need it the most - kids.

The Baldwin Hills Elementary School in Los Angeles has one such extraordinary educator. Malinda Williams is one incredible teacher. Ms. Williams is also a big fan of the Motown classics. Which also means that seeing how her pupils are growing up with the popular songs of today really breaks her heart. She knows that there is so much more out of music to experience.

That is why Ms. Williams, who teaches 3rd, 4th and 5th grade at the elementary school, decided it was about time her students learned just how good music used to be back in the day. She brought the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and, naturally, the Jackson 5 closer to these young minds. She created “The Sounds of Motown”, a musical show in which her students took on some of their teacher’s favorites of the Motown era. The talent show was, naturally, a massive success, but one particular act will remain in the minds and hearts of everyone who got to see them, both in person and online.

What you are about to see doesn’t happen very often. As a matter of fact, we cannot remember the last time we saw a group of such young, yet talented little fellows! Well, we should not forget about Willie the Entertainer! That boy was on fire! A massive fan of Michael Jackson, Willie managed to learn every single signature move that The King of Pop was famous for and everywhere he performed, he would dazzle his crowd, leaving them in awe!

Now, we get it. Watching kids do whatever they feel passionate about would warm up even the coldest of hearts. But these five really are something! The moves, the clothes..the hair! They got every last detail down to a T! It is really hard to imagine they are only, like 8 or 9 years old!

What were you doing at that age?
