Two Powerful Earthquakes Strike Central Italy Within Hours

Two powerful earthquakes struck Central Italy within 2 hours. The first was a 5.5 magnitude, and the second, a 6.1 magnitude, was felt as far away as Rome. The first struck at around 7:00 (1:00) ET, and the second, about 2 hours later. At the latest, many are without power, and waiting in the dark, and rain, and structural damage is making it impossible to doing anything, as many areas remain off limits. The earthquakes, especially the second, was the strongest to hit the region since, 2009.
