Survey of Route for Nicaraguan Canal, 1929-1930

A survey party sails up the San Juan River in a small boat, makes camp, clears underbrush with machetes, erects mess and first-aid tents, unloads boats, passes abandoned dredges, reconnoiter in the jungle, operates diamond drills at Machuca Dam, and crosses sand bars in the river in native canoes.
