Hanna Parikka, MSc, IVF biologist

Hanna Parikka is a Finnish IVF biologist (embryologist) with work experience in fertility clinics since 2005. She has got her Master of Science degree in biotechnology in University of Kuopio, Institute of Applied Biotechnology, Finland. After graduating she worked in different research groups in Universities of Kuopio, Tampere and Jyväskylä in the fields of neuroscience, immunology and exercise biology. Since 2005, working as an IVF biologist (in vitro fertilization, IVF) she is experienced in all the common work assignments in the IVF laboratory, including handling gametes (oocytes, sperm cells), fertilization techniques such as IVF and ICSI, embryo culture, cryopreservation of gametes and embryos, sperm and egg banks and quality control of the IVF laboratory. In addition to biosciences, she has studied pedagogics, psychology, music therapy and natural product processing. Currently she is on study leave from her position as an IVF biologist in the fertility clinic. On freetime she composes, plays and sings jazz rock songs.
