FATAL SHOOTING INCIDENT IN SACRAMENTO SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Authorities responded to a shooting incident in the early hours of Sunday at a shopping center parking lot situated on the southwest corner of Florin Road and Power Inn Road.

Just before 2A.M., the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and the Sacramento Fire Department rushed to the scene upon receiving reports of the incident. Upon arrival, deputies were confronted with a highly volatile situation, finding a male victim down in the parking lot. Tragically, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Sacramento Fire Department.

Efforts to establish a crime scene were met with resistance as a hostile and uncooperative crowd confronted the deputies. In response, additional resources were called in from both the Sheriff's Office and the Sacramento Police Department to restore order and control the scene.

Notably, this incident occurred in the same parking lot, nearly identical in location, where a shooting took place on June 30, just a few weeks ago.

As of now, details about the shooting are scarce, and the investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE: The Sacramento Police Department issued the this statement Sunday evening: "On 07/22/2023, just after 00:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting. During the investigation, officers located two victims who sustained at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound each. Both victims were transported to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries. At the scene, officers located two suspects who in possession of a firearm. Both suspects were arrested for assault and firearm related charges. "
