FORT BUCHANAN, Puerto Rico -- Sfc. Chadric Coley, from the U.S. Army Reserve in Puerto Rico, shared a message about Black History Month, Feb 28. Black History Month, also known as National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by Black Americans and a time to recognize the positive impact they have had on the history of the United States and the Defense Department. Chaplain Maj. Joseph Okpe serves at the 1st Mission Support Command as a religious professional offering service and ministry to sustain spiritual readiness. Sgt. 1st Class Tonya Gross serves as a non-commissioned officer in charge of the 1st MSC Surgeon Office, assisting service members in achieving their medical readiness. Like them, thousands of service members from different demographics proudly serve in the U.S. Army Reserve. "Black History Month only comes once a year, but as a black member myself in the community, I celebrate Black History Month every month," said Sgt. 1st Class Coley.
