A member of the public notified The Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Singapore, that a kitten was stuck on a ledge of a unit. There was no way for this kitten to get free by itself. It was too high up and the ledge was very narrow. When the rescue officer, Yao Huang had arrived at the block, two officers were already there from Ang Mo Kio North neighbourhood police centre. The rescue officer proceeded to the 12th story unit while the police officers remained on the ground floor. They had an open blanket to help assist in the mission.

The kitten was brought to safety and was safely brought back to its owner. Awesome! The owner was told to mesh the windows and gate so their kitten would never be able to get stuck on that ledge again. Cats and kittens are very curious animals so it is very important to always be cautious with them. It isn't difficult for them to jump out a window, they could be chasing a bird and easily slip.

Take a look at some of these window locks to help prevent any pet from escaping the safety of your home.

Listed in this link www.catwelfare.org/meshing from Cat Welfare Society, are some options for securing your windows and gates.

World Animal Day reminds us that we can make a difference with small acts of kindness such as reporting cases of animals in distress or creating a safe home for our pets.We thank the caller who alerted us to this case and the two police officers from Ang Mo Kio North neighbourhood police centre, for their assistance in our rescue mission.
