One elusive otter, who was born in captivity and released into the wild three years ago, has been succesfully avoiding capture at the coast of Santa Cruz, California.

Wildlife officials have been trying to catch the wayward creature, as it has been wresting surfboards away from surfers and approaching kayakers. The female otter, officially named 841, has shown aggression toward people for several weeks and poses a public safety risk, the US Fish and Wildlife Service said in a statement.

But, who knows? Maybe 841 just wants to befriend someone and become 841+1
